Tesco dedicated order fulfilment centre for webshop orders

Business to consumer (B2C): Efficient and accurate e-fulfilment

Groceries, fashion, music, games, electronics, books and more, on-line sales keep on growing rapidly. Fulfilling thousands of small orders within 24 hours after ordering, business to consumer warehouses have to work to very high standards. Error-free order picking is vital. Warehouses can receive as many as 30% of shipped products back from customers.

We have a proven track record in providing efficient and reliable solutions to meet the needs of direct-to-consumer companies, including Urban Outfitters, Tesco, Amazon (in the UK, Germany and France), Witt Group and Wehkamp.

Urban Outfitters, one of the world's leading lifestyle specialty retailers and 'e-tailers', has selected Vanderlande to integrate an automated material handling system in its new distribution centre in Reno, USA. This facility will be handling orders coming in via the company's webshops.

Tesco has built a dedicated facility to handle the order fulfilment of all orders coming in via its Tesco.com web shop. The order consolidation and sortation system is proving to have a quick payback time in freeing up expensive retail sales space in existing superstores and enabling faster growth of Dotcom sales. Other benefits include improved accuracy, traceability and a reduction in product damage.

Amazon is the world’s leading online retailer of books, CDs, DVDs and videos. At their German logistics hub in Bad Hersfeld, Amazon implemented a highly flexible batch picking and order consolidation system handling up to 300.000 orders per day. This has resulted in significantly increased capacity and better process management and supervision. It also makes it easy for them to incorporate new products into their operation.

Witt Group is a leading German mail-order textiles company with a focus on women’s wear, lingerie and household textiles. The Witt Group decided to replace its existing mail-order logistics system with a new automated warehouse based on a batch picking and sortation concept. Main benefits Witt has experienced since it opened its facility are a cost effective and high quality order fulfilment process. The logistics system provides Witt with the opportunity to expand capacity significantly if needed. It allows it to easily implement adjustements and changes in the future.
